What to do with leftovers..

From time to time, we have leftovers of fabrics that we use in the house, that we don't know what to do with them but we don't wont to throw them either. Here's what i did:

Well, my mother-in-law has cross-stitched for me a pair of curtains with lavender flowers on them. She had a leftover from the textile she used for the curtains and stitched a lavender flower on it, but we had no idea what to use it for.
I could frame it and hang it on the wall, but it didn't fit with the decoration of the house. So I decided to make something useful with.
Et voila, a bag to put several things that I leave here and there in the house!

Excited!!!

Since I started creating ACEOs I felt the need to share it with other people, and hear the opinion of the "specialists". I started joining some groups on Facebook where I met very interesting people, and some amazing artists! Then I found out that many of them sell their ACEOs on internet..
And voilĂ : BackCraft was my next step! My new Etsy shop! There you will find all my ACEOs available for purchase and anything else I'm going to create from time to time.
I'm really happy and excited to say that I already have had my first sale! Thank you Angela! :)
You can also find my ACEOs on ArtCardsWanted.com.
So fell free to visit my spots and leave your comments and suggestions!!!

Some of the ACEOs you'll find in my shop!

Back with new stuff!!!

After so long, it's was time to come back and write to you about the new stuff I'm involved in lately.
Recently I heard about ATC and ACEO cards. I had no idea what this was, so I made a little research and learned about their history. I was surprised of how popular this form of art is and how many people create or trade ACEOs all around the world. Unfortunately, they are very unpopular in Greece. I haven't found one person yet who deals with it.
So what are these ATCs and ACEOs anyway???
Artist Trading Cards (ATC) and Art Card Editions & Originals (ACEO) are miniature artworks about the same size as business or american baseball cards, 89x64 mm (3,5"x2,5").These cards can be produced in every media an artist desires as long as they have the specific dimensions.
The ATC movement developed out of the Mail Art movement, and has its origins in Switzerland. The purpose of the first Artist Cards was to be traded among artists. But people who weren't artists soon were interested in this form of art and asked to buy ATCs. It's then when some artists started to sell their ATCs. When an ATC is sold is referred as ACEO.
Buying ACEOs is an affordable way for people to own a small piece of art. Many people collect them, in plastic sheet books, and trade them. Others like to frame them, and decorate their homes with original artworks. Some give them as gifts for special occasions, or place them n greeting cards. So many ways to enjoy an ACEO!
I decided to have the experience of creating ACEOs on my own. It is very enjoyable, anti-stress, and quite addictive.
I will share with you from here the progress of my work, the growing of my own collection of other artists cards, details and infos that will make my everyday life, and hopefully yours, brighter!!!

This was my very first ACEO attempt! It is called "Life in a Box". It is a mixed media artwork.
Collage, watercolours, graphite, archival ink. I can insure you I have been improved by then.... ;)
